o~O Rules & Regulations of Game Conduct O~o
1)
PUBLIC CHAT
a)
Public Chat – Scrolling/Spamming/Flooding
Do
not repeat the same phrase(s) and/or word(s) in chat. Do not flood the chat with
any combination of random letters, numbers and/or symbols. Actually, just don't
flood the chat. This is not limited to public chat; it applies to all forms of
communication. This is extremely annoying, and it will be dealt with harshly.
b)
Public Chat - Capital Letters
Avoid
using ALL CAPS in public chat. Capitalization of a single word to apply emphasis
upon it is acceptable when this privilege is not abused. Abuse of this privilege
arises when it becomes regularity upon all of your communication. Also, the
occasional ALL CAPS SENTENCE is purged out. This is expected and acceptable when
not abused. We understand that some of you may get worked up, but it is
distracting and annoying to many players. Remember, you aren't the only one in
the game.
2)
PLAYER VS. PLAYER COMBAT
a)
Player vs. Player - Repeat Kills
Do
not kill players repeatedly. This applies generally when you kill a person at a
re-spawn point and then kill them upon re-spawn. Killing a player once is
enough, and anything more is simply harassment. If players continue to pester or
attack you, feel free to kill them again, but if they stop... so do you. If you
hunt this player down for another kill however, that is an expected and
acceptable part of the Player vs. Player (“PvP”) environment.
3)
CHEATING
a)
Cheating - Bug Exploitation
Do
not exploit bugs. A bug is
considered any "feature" that was not intended to exist. Most bugs can
be identified with common sense, but if you find yourself questioning whether or
not something is a bug- ask. Ignorance to this rule, or to the possibility of
something being a bug, is no excuse... you have been warned.
b)
Cheating - Account Sharing
Do
not share, trade, or sell accounts. Players work hard for their experience, and
it simply isn't fair for someone to buy their way to the top. It also isn't fair
to have 3 players working on the same account, hunting with it twenty-four hours
a day, seven days a week. If
someone using your account breaks the rules, you must face the consequences.
Your account is your responsibility. Breaking
of this rule is cause for account suspension or deletion.
c)
Cheating - Automation
Do
not use any program, script, macro, “BOT”, auto-playing client, custom
client or any other such device to perform actions in the game for you. You must
use the official Blades of Virtue client, and you may not use any external
programs to play the game for you. Automation provides an extremely unfair
advantage over other players, and it will not be tolerated.
d)
Cheating - "Hacking"
Any
attempt to probe the server for any type of entrance is looked upon as
commercial espionage and will be treated as such. You will be banned on the
first attempt and your Internet Service Provider will be contacted.
Depending on severity, law enforcement may also be contacted. If you are
behind a proxy, the proxy host will be contacted to assist in tracing.
4)
HARASSMENT
a)
Harassment - Begging Staff
Do
not beg the staff for hunts, items, experience, etc.
The staff is here to help you and maintain game balance. If they say no, there is a reason. This also includes asking
to be a staff member. If we want you to be a staff member, we will contact you,
and every time you ask makes it less likely to happen.
b)
Harassment - Complaining to Staff
Do
not repeatedly complain to staff about a particular person or problem. If you
complain and nothing is done within a couple days, send an email to one of the
other administrators to look into it. Administrators have their own way of doing
things, and their methods may not always be apparent.
c)
Harassment - Personal Attacks
Content
that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar,
obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially,
ethnically or otherwise objectionable slander
is not tolerated. This also
includes attacks on sexual preference and religion. No
Slander, Racism, or Verbal Abuse of any sort will be tolerated. I am lenient on
language, but abuse of this privilege will not be taken lightly. This
is a game meant to be enjoyed, not a place to trade insults. Swearing is allowed
in moderation, but it is up to each individual SysOp to decide where the line is
drawn.
d)
Harassment – “Stalking”
The
collection of personal information of another player or admin is looked upon as
stalking, which is illegal in all 50 United States, including California. The
End-User License Agreement (“EULA”) and Terms Of Service (“TOS”) both
are legally binding “agreements” that tie you to the governing laws of the
State of California.
e)
Harassment – Minors
With
the consent of a parent or legal guardian, minors (those under eighteen (18)
years of age) are permitted to play Blades
of Virtue, and access Blades of Virtue public resources. To cause harm to a
minor in any way is unlawful and not permitted in any way, shape or form on
Blades of Virtue. This includes, but is not limited to: child pornography,
pedophilic actions (pedophile tendencies), personal attacks (see IV–
HARASSMENT Section c) Harassment – Personal Attacks) or any other form of
harassment or act that can be viewed as harassment.
5)
MISCELLANEOUS
a)
“Common Sense”
Follow
your common sense. If it leads you astray, we might have to adjust it a bit, but
it's usually pretty trustworthy. If
you think something could be cheating- don't do it. If you think something might be taken offensively- don't say
it. If you think you might have
broken a rule and end up in hell- don't say we didn't warn you.
b)
Impersonation – Identity Theft
Impersonation
any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a Blades of Virtue
moderator, developer, SysOp, administrator, official, forum leader, guide, host
or player; or to falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a
person or entity is considered Identity Theft and will be treated as such.
c)
Attacks On Blades of Virtue
Any
form of transmission of any material that contains software viruses or any other
computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the
functionality of any computer software, hardware or telecommunications equipment
located at the server location, ISP or web host. Disruption of the normal flow
of dialogue, to cause a screen to "scroll" faster than other users of
Blades of Virtue are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively
affects other user's ability to engage in real time exchanges. Interference with
or disruption of the Blades of Virtue servers or networks connected to Blades of
Virtue, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of
networks connected to the Blades of Virtue server network (see III- CHEATING
Section d) Cheating – “Hacking”).
d)
Illegal Activities
This
includes, but is not limited to the promotion or provision of instructional
information about illegal activities, promotion of physical harm or injury
against any group or individual or promotion of any act of cruelty to animals.
e)
Multiple Accounts
Do
not abuse the ability to have more than one account. The rules regarding
multiple accounts are lenient (many games allow only one), but there are players
that have literally dozens of accounts. This is unacceptable. Excessive accounts
will be deleted.
All
rules are subject to personal interpretation by each administrator. If you feel
you were treated unfairly, email another administrator and have them look into
it, but keep in mind that the staff is trusted and we stand by administrator
decisions.
Breaking
any of the aforesaid rules may result in many punishments including, but not
limited to:
a)
Being Muted
b)
Being Kicked
c)
Being Killed
d)
Time in BoV Jail
e)
Time in BoV Hell
f)
A Level/Experience Reduction
g)
Account Suspension
h)
Banishment
Additional
Note:
The ability to play BoV is a privilege, not a right. If you break the rules or make BoV an unpleasant place for people to play, you will lose this privilege. If you cannot follow the rules, please leave. Everyone has a right to enforce the rules, including newbies, but they must also follow the rules themselves. If everyone follows the rules, then everyone has fun. That is why the rules are in place.
